Sedation Dentistry in Middletown, Ohio

For some people, their fear of visiting the dental office stops them from getting the professional dental care that they need. At Middletown Smile Center, we aim to help all of our patients receive quality dental care and feel relaxed and comfortable while they are visiting our office. To find out more about how sedation dentistry might be able to help you next time you see us, give Middletown Smile Center a call today.

What are my options for sedation dentistry?

At Middletown Smile Center, we can offer you local anesthetic and laughing gas to help you stay relaxed and comfortable while you are having dental work completed. Whether it is for a routine general checkup or a more advanced procedure like a root canal, stop putting off much needed dental work.

Laughing gas is an inhaled form of minimal sedation, where you breathe in a gas through a mask over your nose that provides a calm and pleasant feeling. Your dentist is able to control the amount of gas that you receive.

Local anesthesia is always given to numb teeth that are going to be worked on. It is injected into your gums surrounding the tooth, relieving you of pain throughout your dental work. The needle is very small.

Is laughing gas safe?

Yes, the use of laughing gas during dental procedures is common and is an extremely safe practice. You will not be put to sleep when you are given laughing gas but will feel a lot more relaxed and less anxious as you inhale the gas.

After you stop breathing in laughing gas, you will find the effects will wear off within five to ten minutes, leaving you safe to drive home. The chances of negative side effects are very low. Our dentist will talk to you about laughing gas and any risk factors prior to administering it and will monitor you closely the whole time to ensure you are safe.

Am I a candidate for sedation dentistry?

If you suffer from anxiety at the thought of coming to see us, then sedation dentistry may be the right option for you. Everyone deserves to receive quality dental care, so at Middletown Smile Center, we want to do all that we can to help our patients feel relaxed about coming to see us.

Whether you are avoiding the dentist because you have a low pain threshold, have very sensitive teeth or are needing a large amount of work done, call us at Middletown Smile Center. We will discuss your concerns with you and what we can do to help make your next experience at the dentist a relaxed one.

Can any dentist administer sedation?

All dentists are highly qualified and trained to administer mild sedation including local anesthesia. Our dentist at Middletown Smile Center is also certified to administer laughing gas. When you visit us to undergo dental treatment with sedation dentistry, you can be confident knowing that you are in excellent hands!
